Find Flaw and Get Cash From Google

Google one more step toward mobile security to ensure that apps on Google Play Store should be safe to use. That's why Google announce a new bug bounty program names as "Google Play Security Reward Program". This will help to encourage developers and white hat hackers to find the flaw and get cash from Google.

This is great initiative taken by Google as Google Play Store is full of million of apps and most of them aren't fulfilling the criteria of security. Google wants to washout those apps from Google Play Store so the use will get only secure and risk free app from Play Store. For now as the program is new, so the app will be via invite only. List of the apps released in which you can find flaw and earn $1000 for one flaw in it. Alibaba, Dropbox, Tinder, Snapchat, Duolingo and Line include in that.

Google developed Android apps are also included in this. Once this program run Google said that there will be no invite system and use opt-in.

How it will work?

Google said that researcher (the bug finder) will have to work with the app developer directly once the bug found. Google doesn't want to know the bug until its a fix is done by app developer. Research ( the bug finder) will then contact Google to claim his reward which is $1000, which will be paid after Google confirm it with the app developer.

In addition to that the research will be able to work with the app developer themselves and may be get hired by the company.

Google is partnering with HackerOne to handle this program. HackerOne will be in-charge of this program and submitting reports. Also HackerOne will invite white-hat hackers into the program if its expands.

Google Play Security Reward Program is good initiative taken by Google's to make the platform safer. Google is also running rewards program for Chrome apps, Google developed websites and Android running on Pixel devices.
