Skype reached to one billion download on Google Play

Microsoft Skype is downloaded one billion times on Google Play. But that doesn't mean Skype have one billion users.

Skype is one of the most popular chatting, video calling and used for interview purposed by companies app. It reached to the one billion number of downloads on Google Play. 

How much active users Skype have?

Despite of  having 1 billion downloads on Google Play, Skype  have 300 million monthly active users said by Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella on last March.

One billion download doesn't mean that one billion active users. It means that user may have downloaded and uninstall it many time. Skype have many rivals like Facebook Messenger and Whatsapp, which are giving great competition to Skype.

But still very little number of apps reached the one billion number on single platform. Some popular apps like Gmail, Google Maps and YouTube have already reached that number on Google Play. Facebook was the first non-Google app who reached to the one billion number on Google Play in 2015. Few months later Facebook Messenger entered into that club too.

So with that Microsoft became the third company on Google Play who's app reached to one billion download.
